Clay Paullin played volleyball for four years for Coach Patrick Lynch at Palos Verdes High School, played for SVSC, and was part of the USA Beach Volleyball program. Clay transferred from BYU to UCLA in the winter of 2011.

At Palos Verdes HIgh School Andy Benesh made the 2013 AVCA High School Senior All-American first team, Volleyball Magazine All-American first team, Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 list, South Bay Daily Breeze All-Area first team and All-Bay League first team as a senior at Palos Verdes High in Palos Verdes Estates (Calif.). He had 360 kills and 74 blocks in 2013. As a junior, he earned 2012 All-Bay League first team and South Bay Daily Breeze All-Area second team honors.
